Anchovy & tomato pizza

This Anchovy & Tomato Pizza is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional pizza. It's made with a whole wheat crust, homemade tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, anchovy fillets, and a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. It's easy to make and packed with flavor!

Ingredients

For the crust:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup warm water

For the tomato sauce:

  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For the toppings:

  • 1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
  • 6-8 anchovy fillets
  • 1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil, chopped

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, olive oil, and warm water. Knead the dough until it forms a ball.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 12 inches in diameter. Place the dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza crust.
  5. Top the pizza with sliced cherry tomatoes, anchovy fillets, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
  6. Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  7. Sprinkle chopped basil on top before serving.
