Anchovy & tomato pizza
This Anchovy & Tomato Pizza is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional pizza. It's made with a whole wheat crust, homemade tomato sauce, fresh tomatoes, anchovy fillets, and a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese. It's easy to make and packed with flavor!

Ingredients
For the crust:
- 2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp active dry yeast
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
For the tomato sauce:
- 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the toppings:
- 1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
- 6-8 anchovy fillets
- 1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil, chopped
Method
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, yeast, salt, olive oil, and warm water. Knead the dough until it forms a ball.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface until it's about 12 inches in diameter. Place the dough on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- In a separate bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper. Spread the tomato sauce over the pizza crust.
- Top the pizza with sliced cherry tomatoes, anchovy fillets, and shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Sprinkle chopped basil on top before serving.
